Adam Gilchrist led his side to a much needed victory with a bludgeoning 36-ball 54 Scott Styris (36 not out), Rohit Sharma (23) and Shahid Afridi (20 not out) contributed to a convincing victory against super kings

Deccn chasing a modest total, GIlchrist led the charge by scoring 54 from 36 balls. Gibbs smashed a six and four before being coaught and bowled by Gony. gilli got perfect support from Styris and was especially on ntini. Rohit sharma slammed a 17 ball 23 and become top scorrer in DLF IPL. Afridi ended the game with his 6 ball cameo of 20 ( 2 4’s and 2 6’s)

Shaun Pollock steered Mumbai to a much awaited victory against delhi. He added 33 runs in just 15 balls to take his team to a respectable total and later bowled a superb spell (4-0-16-2) coupled with brilliant fielding and inspired captaincy gifted Mumbai Indians a much-needed victory.

Chasing 163, Delhi Daredevils were all out for the first time in the tournament. Delhi could make only 133 in 18.5 overs. Mumbai Indians won the match by 29 runs.  Delhi Daredevils lost wickets at regular intervals and no one except for captain Virender Sehwag crossed 30 runs

The host, from 82 for one at one stage, lost its way somewhat in the middle overs. Yuvraj Singh, Marsh, Mahela Jayawardene and Karan Goel departed in the space of 24 runs and 4.3 overs.

After reduced to 29 for 4 in five overs, Kolkaka managed to reach 169, mainly due to a inspiring innings from Hussey(46-ball 71,) and Prasanta Saha, (59 off 32 balls). Requiring 19 in the final over, Saha and Ajit Agarkar could take just nine off Pathan.A world record 104-run partnership from just 55 balls could not save SRK’s team to stop there straight 4th loss

Yet again luck did not favour deccan chargers. chasing a modest target of 157, Deccan Chargers lost by 3 runs despite a awesome innings by Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma is certainly the future of Indian batting, what a tremendous display of batting.

When things are going quite smoothly Deccan Chargers, suddenly lost two quick wickets in the form of Rohit Sharma (57) and unpredictable Shahid Afridi (1). With 26 needing off 14 balls, the fate of the match could tilt anybody’s favour. With 20 needed in last over, Sanjay Bangar banged 2 sixes, the match again looks evenly poised,but Kumble used all his experience and gave bangalore there first victory infront of home ground

Jaffer (44 off 37 balls) and Rahul Dravid played uncharacteristically for his 26 off 19 balls at the end, helped Bnaglore to set a modest target of 157.

One more catching controversy, this time between shane warne and Gangully.

Sourav Ganguly and Shane Warne have been fined 10% of their match fees, while Pratap Kumar, the on-field umpire, has been suspended for a game following the catch controversy during Thursday’s IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

Ganguly was punished for forcing the umpire to refer a contentious catch to the third umpire while Warne was penalised for savaging Ganguly’s conduct during a post-match media conference.

Shane warne was angry as Ganguly refused to walk for a catch claimed at deep midwicket by South African captain Graeme Smith.Despite Smith’s confidence he had caught the ball before it hit the ground, Ganguly stood his ground and asked for a replay.He was given not out after TV footage proved inconclusive.Warne later accused Ganguly of not playing in the spirit of the game.

Umpire G.A. Pratap Kumar has also been banned for one IPL match after he acquiesced to Ganguly’s request to refer the catch claimed by Graeme Smith to the third umpire. I guess its the umpire to be blamed for the whole controversy, he would have refereed it to third umpire straight away before Dada appealed.

Chennai’s perfect start to the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) season ended following a defeat to Delhi Dare Devils at there home turf chennai.

Delhi Daredevils, chasing 170, romped home by eight wickets and an over to spare to clinch a crucial win .Virender Sehwag (71) and Gautam Gambhir (50) 115-run partnership to set up the win for Delhi.

Viru and Gambhir took only 4.5 overs to reach 50 on the board and reached 100 in the ninth over with Sehwag also completing his half-century off 24 deliveries.

Chennai had earlier made 169-6 after captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had won the toss and elected to bat. S. Vidyut’s entertaining 37-ball 54 and Albie Morkel 28 off just 16 ball helped settign a modest target.

Looks like Home ground is very unlucky to Deccan Chargers, despite doing a pooja/yaga in stadium on wednesday, Deccan Chargers were once again trashed in front of home crowd.

Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field against Deccan Chargers at Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma stood tall amid ruins and hammered an unbeaten 42-ball 76 as Deccan Chargers posted a modest 164 for eight against Kings XI . V.V.S. Laxman (48 off 34 balls) and Shahid Afridi (13 off seven balls) are the only other batsmen to cross double figures. Piyush Chawla once again impressed with a three-wicket haul, conceding 28 runs in his four overs

Kings XI’s new opening duo of Marsh  (who I predicted will be one of the biggest star after the tournament) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (15 off 15) gave a perfect start, putting up 41 runs.An unbeaten 81-run stand between debutant Shaun Marsh and Mahela Jayawardena powered Kings XI Punjab to a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against Deccan Chargers

Rajasthan Royals with their all-round show outperformed Kolkata Knight Riders and beat them by 45 runs in their IPL tie in Jaipur.Rajstha Royals fourth successive win helped them past Delhi to second place in the points table

Yusuf Pathan and Swapnil Asnodkar struck rapid half-centuries to set a target of 196. Rajasthan score 53 between overs 10 and 15 and  Ravindra Jadeja’s cameo – 33 off 19 balls in last overs helped them set a very good target.Knight Riders were bowled out for 151, their last five wickets falling for just eight runs.Ganguly(51) and Hussey (42) fought for a while and put on a partnership but that was not enough

Glenn McGrath has taken tournament-best figures of 4 for 29 to help Delhi beat Bangalore by 10 runs in Delhi

Gautam Gambir thrashed 86 off 54 balls to help Delhi post 5 for 191 off its 20 overs.Royal Challengers won the toss and put the Daredevils into bat first, despite lossing Sehwag early in the innings, Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan (50) put on 98 for the second wicket and set a target of 191

Jacques Kallis (54, 44 balls, 6 x 4, 1×6), Rahul Dravid (38) and Mark Boucher 31offered some resistance to reduce the margin. but Bangalore never looked like chasing 191. The start was terrible for the Royal Challengers as they lost too many wickets at the top.
