How is cricket organised in Australia?
Cricket Australia is the national governing body. Its six members are the state associations: Cricket NSW, Cricket Victoria, Queensland Cricket, WA Cricket, the South Australian Cricket Association and Cricket Tasmania. Cricket ACT and NT Cricket run the game in the two territories but are not members. Metropolitan, country and district associations, clubs and schools sit beneath them.
What are Australia's domestic competitions?
Men play the Sheffield Shield (first-class) and the One-Day Cup, contested for the Dean Jones Trophy. Women play the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL) and the T20 Spring Challenge. The Big Bash League and Women's Big Bash League are franchise T20 competitions with eight clubs each.
When does the 2026/27 season run?
The men's One-Day Cup began on 18 September 2026 and its final is set for 14 February 2027. The Sheffield Shield began on 7 October 2026, with the final scheduled to start on 25 March 2027. The women's schedule was released on 15 July 2026.
Does the ACT have a state team?
The ACT Meteors play in the WNCL, the women's one-day competition. The ACT does not field a side in the men's Sheffield Shield or One-Day Cup, which are played between the six states.
How do I find a cricket club near me?
Search a town, suburb or club in the Cricstars club finder, or browse by state. Where Cricstars has no verified record yet, use the official Play Cricket program finder, which covers clubs and Woolworths Cricket Blast centres.
Is this atlas official?
No. It is an independent Cricstars initiative and is not operated by or affiliated with Cricket Australia or any state or territory association. Each record shows its source and whether it has been verified.
How does a club get listed or claimed?
Use List your club or Update club information. Every submission enters a verification queue and is checked against an official club or association source before it is published. A listing never gives anyone edit rights on its own.
What is Cricstars?
Cricstars is a grassroots cricket scoring platform. Clubs, schools, leagues, teams and players use it to score matches ball by ball, manage squads, publish scorecards and build player records. It is free for grassroots cricket.
