Thirty-eight teams.
One country.

The BCCI runs domestic cricket through 38 member associations, most of them states. In 2026/27, 32 play in the Ranji Trophy Elite group and six in the Plate group. Pick one to see where it plays.

How to usePick an association from the list or tap a region on the map.

Dashed lines mark approximate association areas, not official boundaries. Some states have more than one association. Services and Railways are not regional. Neighbouring countries are shown in grey.

How is cricket organised in India?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body. Its 38 member associations run domestic cricket. Most represent a state, some represent part of a state, and two, Services and Railways, represent institutions. Each fields a senior team in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

What is the Ranji Trophy Elite and Plate?

The Ranji Trophy is India’s first-class championship. In 2026/27, 32 teams play in the Elite group, split into four groups of eight, and six play in the Plate group. It runs in two phases, from 11 October to 5 November and from 17 January, with knockouts from 9 February.

What are India’s main domestic competitions?

Men play the Ranji Trophy (first-class), the Vijay Hazare Trophy (one-day) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20), plus the zonal Duleep Trophy and the Irani Cup. Women play the Senior Women’s T20 and One-Day Trophies.

How is the IPL different from domestic cricket?

The IPL and WPL are franchise leagues with privately owned teams built at auction. State associations run the domestic game from district and club cricket up to their senior teams.

Who won the domestic titles in 2025/26?

Jammu & Kashmir won their first Ranji Trophy, beating Karnataka in the final. Vidarbha won the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jharkhand won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru won both IPL 2026 and WPL 2026.

How do I join a cricket club in India?

Search your city to see which association runs cricket there, then contact a club or academy registered with your district association. Ask about trials or nets, register, and pay the club fee.

          Is this guide official?

No. It is an independent Cricstars guide and is not operated by or affiliated with the BCCI or its member associations. Cricstars is an independent guide and welcomes factual corrections.

          What is Cricstars?

Cricstars is a grassroots cricket scoring platform. Clubs, schools, leagues, teams and players use it to score matches ball by ball, manage squads, publish scorecards and build player records.
