The session plan
Allow 3 minutes for the introduction and stop signal, 4 minutes across transitions and water, and 2 minutes for a closing review. Use sequential activities with a supervised batting lane.
| Activity | Minutes | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Catch-and-name | 5 | Connect names, attention and gentle catching before the main session. |
| Tee-drive gate | 8 | Guide a straight-bat shot along the ground through a target gate. |
| Roll-and-gather | 8 | Collect a slow rolling ball cleanly while staying balanced. |
| Explanation, transitions, water & review | 9 | Keep this time in the plan; do not fill it with extra repetitions. |
| Total | 30 | Adjust to your group and conditions. |
Before players arrive
Read each linked drill, collect the equipment and check the activity area. Decide who supervises each station. Explain how players stop, wait and collect balls. Choose easier versions in advance for anyone who needs them.
What to look for
Choose one observation for each station, such as a ready receiver, a clean gather or an agreed running call. Ask players to describe what helped. If the group loses control or confidence, simplify the activity rather than pushing through the timetable.
After the session
Record which setup worked, any space or equipment problems and one next-step goal. Keep notes about the session rather than collecting unnecessary personal information about children. Repeat a useful drill next time under comparable conditions.
