Frequently asked questions

A cricket tournament budget helps organisers see what an event is likely to cost before they commit money. Common expenses include ground hire, umpires, scorers, equipment, prizes and refreshments. Income may come from team entry fees, sponsorship or ticket sales.

For example, if eight teams each pay NZ$150, entry fees bring in NZ$1,200. Organisers still need to compare that amount with all expected costs. Adding a contingency reserve gives the event some room for unexpected expenses.

How do I calculate a cricket tournament budget?

List each expected expense and add the costs together. Include a reserve for unexpected spending. Then add entry fees, sponsorship and other likely income. The difference shows your projected surplus or funding shortfall.

How do I find the break-even entry fee?

Take the total planned cost and subtract income expected from sources other than team fees. Divide the amount left by the number of paying teams. This gives an estimated fee per team. It assumes all those teams pay and the other income is received.

Can I use this for junior cricket?

Yes, where the resource suits the age group. Confirm your club or school safety policies and local playing conditions first.

Is this an official rule or competition document?

No. Cricstars provides practical learning and planning resources. The applicable Laws and your competition’s published playing conditions take priority.
