Choose the right structure
Different formats make different demands on time, grounds and the teams taking part.
Understand the four formats
Single round robin
Every team plays each other once. A balanced league format, though match totals rise rapidly as team numbers grow.
Double round robin
Each pairing plays twice. More matches give teams another opportunity to compete, but require more playing days.
Knockout
Teams exit after one defeat. A single-elimination tournament needs one fewer match than the number of teams. Byes may be required.
Groups + knockout
Group matches lead into elimination rounds. Knockout participants are placeholders until results and standings are known.
Before you publish a fixture list
Playing time
Allow for innings, breaks, changeovers and weather. Overs alone cannot determine actual start times.
Team and ground availability
This planner assigns numbered slots. It does not enforce rest periods, stop teams playing multiple slots on a day or verify individual ground availability.
Finals and contingency
Keep reserve days available for rain, delayed matches and finals. Confirm knockout dependencies after the earlier rounds.
Competition rules
Publish your points system, net run rate rules, eligibility, tie-breakers and procedures for tied or abandoned matches.

Can the tool handle groups with uneven team counts?
Yes. Extra teams are allocated to the first groups where equal division is not possible.
Can we publish the schedule straight away?
No. It is a provisional planning aid. Check rest, grounds, actual availability, weather contingency, knockout dependencies and competition rules first.
