Cricstars publishing standards

Accuracy, attribution and accountability.

This policy explains how Cricstars approaches cricket news, features, analysis and other editorial content published under the Cricstars name.

01 · Accuracy

Accuracy comes before speed.

We aim to publish information that is accurate, understandable and supported by appropriate sources. Information that cannot reasonably be confirmed should not be presented as established fact.

02 · Sources

Sources should be clear where practical.

Cricstars may report from official cricket boards, governing bodies, teams, competitions, public statements, interviews, match records and reputable published reporting.

When information originates substantially from another publisher or primary source, Cricstars aims to attribute it appropriately rather than present it as an original discovery.

03 · Authorship

Bylines should reflect real responsibility.

A genuine individual contributor may receive a named byline when that contributor is publicly responsible for the work.

When no individual public contributor is identified, Cricstars may appear as the organisational author. Internal administrative or system-account names are not represented publicly as journalists.

See our Editorial Team page.

04 · Corrections

Material errors should be corrected.

If Cricstars confirms that a published story contains a meaningful factual error, we aim to correct the article.

Significant corrections may be accompanied by a correction note where additional context is useful to readers.

05 · Updates

News can develop after publication.

Cricket stories may be updated when new confirmed information becomes available.

Publication and modification timestamps may be used to show when meaningful updates were made.

06 · AI-assisted tools

Technology can assist the workflow.

Cricstars may use software or AI-assisted tools for tasks such as research organisation, drafting support, formatting, transcription, summarisation or editorial workflow.

Editorial responsibility remains with Cricstars. AI output should not be treated as a source of truth by itself, and important factual claims should be checked against appropriate sources before publication.

07 · Commercial content

Advertising should not be disguised as independent news.

Sponsored, promotional or commercially influenced material should be identified when applicable. Readers should not be intentionally misled about a commercial relationship.

08 · Attribution

Credit belongs with the original source.

Cricstars aims to respect copyright, attribution and source ownership. Third-party material should be quoted, referenced or summarised appropriately.

09 · Reader feedback

Readers can challenge or correct us.

If you believe an article contains a factual error, attribution problem or another editorial issue, contact us with the article URL and the detail you believe requires review.

These standards may evolve as Cricstars grows, but accuracy, attribution and accountability remain the foundation of our editorial work.
