Frequently asked questions
A coin toss is part of the start of a cricket match. The winning captain normally decides whether to bat or field first, in line with the match's playing conditions. A virtual coin toss can also be useful for practice games and planning activities.
For a casual session, agree on heads or tails before using the tool, then make the toss. If you are organising an official match, follow your competition's toss procedure rather than treating a website result as an official decision.
How do I use a virtual cricket coin toss?
Ask one person to call heads or tails before starting the toss. Run the tool and compare the outcome with the call. For practice games, agree beforehand what the winner can choose.
Can a virtual toss replace the official match toss?
Do not assume it can. Official cricket matches must follow the relevant Laws and competition playing conditions. Use a virtual toss for informal games unless the organiser has approved another procedure.
Can I use this for junior cricket?
Yes, where the resource suits the age group. Confirm your club or school safety policies and local playing conditions first.
Is this an official rule or competition document?
No. Cricstars provides practical learning and planning resources. The applicable Laws and your competition’s published playing conditions take priority.
